TUESDAY, JULY 9, 2008 General Meeting Tonight
TONIGHT at
7:00!
Don't miss the SOUTHERN FAIRFIELD COUNTY YOUNG DEMS MEETING
tonight at 89 Mitchell
Street in Stamford
Over a
year ago, a group of us started out to build an active and vibrant chapter of
the CT Young Democrats here in Fairfield County. Our energy has produced a number
of successes. Amanda Brown, one of our members, was recently elected to the
Common Council in Norwalk, and a number of our members ran for
elected office in 2007. We raised money to support candidates, got out the
vote, and established ourselves as a worthwhile and effective chapter, all the
while expanding our small circle and having fun.
The
biggest long term goal of this process was to build a chapter with stability
that would be a spring board into politics for young people, and an asset to the
Democratic Party as a whole. In the short term, we had a very specific goal of
being up and running as an asset to candidates for the 2008 election
cycle.
That
time is upon us, and despite a recent lull in activity by the chapter, we think
it is imperative that we reorganize as a chapter and start working toward the
promise we showed in the early stages of this project.
It is
in this vein that we are calling a major
meeting of the chapter, Wednesday, July 9th at
7pm in order to
accomplish the following:
· Revision and final
adoption of our By-laws
· Officer
Elections
· Re-organization of
committees
· Planning for the
2008 Election Cycle
The
meeting will be a retreat-like get together at the home of Alison Malloy
(89 Mitchell St. Stamford, CT) with an agenda that will
follow shortly. This meeting is key to the long term success of our chapter,
and we urge anyone who has participated up to this point and anyone who is
interested in participating in the future, to take time out for this vital
meeting.
